Reflections: Yearly

Personally I've grown to be more open minded, but also more outspoken to my own ideas, where at the beginning of this school year I was closed to new ideas, and unwilling to speak of my own ideas because of this. Now, my ideas are spoken and grow based on outside suggestion from my peers as we cooperate to make more interesting and strong hypotheses that can withstand statements of the opposition. I've grown to become this, and I'm so glad that I have.

Reflections: Semester

Since the beginning of the semester I've grown more than I care to admit. At the beginning I was very afraid of the work and the responsibility of the Open Program. I didn't know if I was going to be able to get the work done regarding my own personal effects and tendencies. I was trying to quit the program at one point, but it was too late to back out by then. I'm definitely glad that I couldn't. I'm not a particularly emotional person, but I can say that I grew to not fear the fear, and instead ignore it, all except acknowledging existence. It was always there, I just didn't want to show it. It was that same fear that drove me to new heights of work. I learned that I can achieve.

Project Work- WK 4

I've finished my research paper and given it to Mr. Sitze. I've also been formatting my argument and defense for the Lab final on Wednesday. I feel as though I have a solid argument for my meeting. My meeting is going to be the 4th on Wednesday. Reflecting back, my work on the project has come a long way since the beginning of the year.

Eng. and Alg. Standards- WK 4

The day has come that it can be said, with extreme relief, that my work is now completed. My English work was done in several steps over a single week including 3 different papers: A research paper, a paragraph argumentative, and an explanatory paper. They each did well, but still, like everything, could use improvement. I'm very happy to have completed them though.
I have finally completed my final Algebra test, besides the final itself. I'm more happy to be done with Algebra than any other class. I did my practice, and my test and I'm filled with relief.

Project Work- WK 3

Thursday & Friday were big days for my project. Those were the days that my preparation over the past few weeks were leading up to all along. I have been working on a PowerPoint presentation to give to the health classes at the school. It was a long time coming but I gave the presentation. Before I did that, however, I had to make a pretest/post-test to actually judge my effectiveness in awareness raising. The presentation was a huge success. Having given the pretest Thursday and gathering an average of 34%, I was a little dissapointed, it did make my job slightly easier when I gave the post-test. The average for after my presentation was 83%, a wide margin difference from before and a clear sign that my project was successful.

Eng. and Alg. Standards- WK 3

Over the past week I have been looking over my standards. I'm neither worried nor am I relieved I simply know that there is work that I can continue to do. In English I have met with Mr. Sitze and discussed my thesis for Les Miserables. I have decided to base it on the theme that people who are treated kindly will be kind themselves, and vice versa. I've been doing a lot of work on this, and I'm eager to see its completion. In Algebra, the work flows slowly in practice test and test formation. I'm on the CH. 8 practice test now and hope to finish the test come Friday.

Project Work- WK 2

Over this past week I've been very pleased with the work I've been doing on my project so far. I've been working hard on my PowerPoint and I've completed it for the most part. I do want to test it and make changes if need be. Now that the PowerPoint is finished, I'll be working on making a Pre-Test and Post-Test to prove completion of goals. I want to spread the Pre-Test and Post-Tests to ensure that there are no mixed results or biases. Once the Presentation is completed I've planned the final research paper.

Eng. And Alg. Standards- WK 2

Over this past week I have reached small milestones rather than large strides. While I have been working on my standards, I have been making sure that I understood the standards. I have made plans in English while reading Les Miserables; most notably I have plotted some of the allusions found in the text. The themes thus far make it easy to plan ahead.
Algebra is moving just as quickly as English. I have completed my Chapter 7 test and I'm moving on to Chapter 8. I feel a little anxious but it is pretty easy work to learn. I feel as though I can overclock myself and get this work done with time to spare.

Project Work- WK 1.

As I see my progress in the last week, I can say that my project is on the timeline to completion. I've completed several of the slides, and I will soon make a concrete date for the real presentations. I still need to make a short, bulleted script to follow. I also must make to test and pretest to ensure that my presentation did its job well.

Eng. And Alg. Standards- WK 1

This week I have made great strides in my standards, English especially. In English, I have completed  an entire literary analysis essay which placed many of my standards for English on the board. It also put me 5 steps ahead on my English portfolio. Algebraically, I have completed Chapter 6 and am continuing to practice work on Chapter 7.
